Romanticize your Dreams and Make Them a Reality
This year, I’ve been on a mission to find my purpose and to reconnect with parts of myself that I had lost, or minimized, throughout the years. One of my first loves was writing, and I’ve taken up journaling as a hobby. I find it’s a very helpful tool in connecting with myself. To just sit, and write whatever comes to mind, and not worry about grammar, punctuation, or phrasing. It may read a little awkwardly, but that’s fine. We’re not here to be perfect, we’re here to have an experience. I wanted to share a piece I wrote, in case it resonates with someone that may need it.
Don’t be afraid to daydream. Pay attention to the thoughts and vision that excite and energize you.
What makes you smile?
How can you bring those daydreams to life?
You’re allowed to dream. And what is acting your age anyway? Act alive. Embrace passion in your life and find ways to transition your dreams into reality.
As children, we’re encouraged to use our imagination and dream big. We learn as much as we can and apply those lessons to our lives as we grow older, or mature (whatever happens first). That doesn’t need to change as an adult.
Dreaming is the first step. That spark of interest drives the next step. From there, the adventure begins. Of course, there will be hard work along the way. You can’t just think about something, or read about it, you need to find a way to act on it.
I see a lot of content that promotes a magical thought process, that if you wish for something hard enough, it’ll manifest one day. Having the right mindset is key, of course, but you simply cannot achieve your goals without action on your part. Embracing the scary parts of learning something new, including all the mistakes you will make along the way. Sometimes publicly. Sometimes repeatedly. The drive to continue to pursue a goal after failure is what builds success.
Take action. Allow yourself the opportunity to fail without self-judgment. Then keep going!
Don’t stay at any stage too long after you’ve mastered it. Yes, enjoy that feeling of accomplishment, because you’ve earned it. But you’ve got to continue on the road to your dream. So determine the next step, make a plan, and again, take action. The great thing is, you will be able to apply many lessons that you’ve already mastered, but you will face more challenges and obstacles in the next stage. Harder ones. The further you go, the harder the challenges will become, because you’ve passed the easier lessons.
Don’t use the new struggles as an excuse to give up. Flip your perspective, and embrace the new challenges. They are proof that you’re getting closer to achieving your goal. You’re ready for the hard stuff, and mastering the hard stuff is what sets you apart from the rest. Get ready to shine and wear that confidence proudly; it’s well earned.
Your life can be what you want it to be. Leave room for dreaming, and don’t be afraid to follow your spark and turn it into action. The possibilities are endless. You just have to take the first step, and commit to becoming the you that you were always meant to be.
